The Aiea Class of 74 will meet at "Ige's Restaurant and 19th Puka" (98-761 Oihana Pl, Aiea), on the last Friday of each month.
Here are some email replies from the last meeting;
Hey Everybody,
It was go good to see those that turned out at Ige’s, remembering the past and “filling in the missing gaps” of 30 plus years. It was so relaxing, fun, and so “therapeutic”. It was like sitting under a big shady tree, at a picnic table bench at the park, without a care in the world…..Talking from one story to the next, laughing and having a good time. Being outnumbered by the girls, the boyz used this opportunity to practice their listening skills. Tessie V. has such a keen memory for detail and an infectious laugh, we all have a better understanding on where the cheerleaders would hide to “smoke” cigarettes during football games and how they used to “squeeze” through the locked gated area by the PE rooms after practice.
Lloyd C., Big Mahalo’s for picking up a portion of the tab for drinks and pupus. It was so unexpected Ronald Ige pulled me on the side, and he had to explain it to me 2 and ½ times. I stopped him half way on the 3rd time because he looked tired and started to “hand” sign. We wanted you to know that you definitely were with us in spirit and we were all deeply “touched”. Thanks Nancy for also picking part of the tab and the lei…..it was good to see you again! And thanks for the Strawberry pie Bobbie. It was good to see you too!
I don’t know where the idea to Karaoke came from, but, being that we have two extraordinary singers in the house (Pat P and Nancy R), to witness the talent of these wonderfully gifted women would be a treat. And to add to that, Sandi said she’s been practicing singing in the shower, so we will have the 3 Diva’s on stage.
If any of you have any suggestions for activities that our class could all participate, let us know. Also, if there are any birthday’s for the month of September, let us know too, or better yet, if you want to surprise a classmate for their birthday, come to our next get together at Ige’s (September 28th). We celebrated Sandi and Janice’s birthday this past Friday. At the suggestion of a classmate, we did not light up all 100 plus candles for the fear it would set off the smoke alarm at Ige’s. Thanks for the warning Dwight…. J. Ready to go golfing?
Reynold
Aloha All,
Just had to tell you all that we had our first outing at Ige's and it was a blast. Sharing family stories, pictures and, of course, memories of the past, laughing the whole time! Who was there? Nancy Chapman Ramos, Tessie Lau Vasconcellos, Reynold Tamayei, Alan Nakamoto, Dwight Tomita, Janice Colon, Clarene "Miko" Ortiz Sunada, Pat Pongasi-Goldson, Bobbie Silva Paulo and myself. Scott Kodama and Ron Ige were there working (Scott is the manager). Jamie Hom Shibata (c/o '75 married to Randall, our classmate Lloyd's brother)works there and paid us a visit and Doreen Carvalho Munar, also c/o '75 stopped by when she heard we were in the house. Lloyd Coward (lives on the mainland) was ever so generous! He literally arranged with Ron and Scott to pay for "a round of drinks and MORE!" Thanks Lloyd! Other generous classmates provided a wonderful birthday cake, cheese cake, and flower lei for a couple of our August birthday babies. Ige's staff were wonderful to us, kept us watered and fed and even brought us Andagi with our coffee. We plan to meet once a month at Ige's so write this down. The last Friday of each month at 7:00pm, rain or shine. The next date is Sept 28th and Ron promised us a private room to set up Karaoke! Please spread the word around! I have included the latest email list. For those who cannot be here with us, keep in touch! We love to hear how you're doing and where you live etc. Maybe when we're in your neck of the woods we can drop in and say hello!
Love and hugs,Sandi
